State Police Target Thruway Speeders

State police are cracking down on drivers who speed on the long straightaway stretch of Thruway between Rockland and Orange, which has been the scene of three fatal crashes since last month.

Most studies of traffic accident causes point to speed differentials rather than just high speeds. It’s notable that when New York (and most other states) raised maximum speed limits, they left the minimum speed limits alone. They need to raise the minimum speed and enforce it. - BK
