The ‘Gay’ Lexicon (July 25, 2005)
Dear Bill,
FYI, the link below is to a lexicon of gay-friendly terms for use by the media.
The mission of this group is to get reporters to write about the homosexual agenda in endearing terms.
Linda Cebrian
http://www.nlgja.org/pubs/stylebook.html#gay
marriage: Advocates for the right to marry seek the legal rights and obligations of marriage, not a variation of it. Often, the most neutral approach is to avoid any adjective modifying the word “marriage.” For the times in which a distinction is necessary, “marriage for same-sex couples” is preferable in stories. When there is a need for shorthand description (such as in headline writing), “same-sex marriage” is preferred because it is more inclusive and more accurate than “gay.”

Follow-up (July 12, 2005)
Note: The following was sent to John Penney, Opinion Page Editor of the Poughkeepsie Journal, by Helen Westover, regarding the letter she submitted for publication.
Dear John;
Here (below) is the original letter you rejected a few years ago. My current letter is as a result of the Journal's own excellent reporting.
Saland's bill # is Senate 477.
I have been in touch also with Joel Miller's office, and Joel backs the bill making PP mandated reporters as well. It's not yet out of committee.
For background, Saland's original bill was S.6625.
Not sure what there is to talk about; the Taconic Papers want to do a story on the issue, and STOPP's part in it.
Hope you will simply continue to educate parents about PP's role in allowing child abuse; you can also talk with Bill Grady, and Whitsell, to whom Jerry Moynihan and I, and a fellow from Life Dynamics, Ed Zelinski described the problem. As we were leaving, Grady told me, “If only Saland's bill had passed as written, PP would be included as mandated reporters.”
Call him.

Attached letter:
To the Editor;
Re; A recent Poughkeepsie Journal , (my local paper,) in a Nov. 8 article, “Child Abuse Still Kept Quiet By Too Many” was very informative, and useful. Dr. Diane Cicatello said “I didn't even know Prevent Child Abuse NY existed, and I am a health professional.”
It is true that there are many informational gaps, and children fall through the cracks. The recent expose of the Catholic hierarchy's decades long protection of child sexual predators in the clergy is certainly a case in point.
Recent widely published studies show that, among girls 15 and younger who become pregnant, between 60 and 80 percent of them are impregnated by adult men. The data also show that as the age of the victim goes down, the age of the perpetrator goes up.
The emotional sequelae for these girls are devastating. When compared to girls who are sexually active with boys near their own age, these girls are more likely to: * have multiple sex partners; * engage in dangerous sexual behaviors; *become pregnant; *drop out of school; *become runaways; * abuse drugs or alcohol; * become involved in physically abusive relationships; * end up on welfare; * be lured into prostitution.
Other data shows that among sexually active girls having relationships with men more than five years older are significantly more likely to commit suicide.
A major causal factor in this epidemic is that older men have more access to young girls, usually because of the high divorce rate, and often the children live with mothers who have boyfriends who prey on these girls.
Sexual activity with underage children is illegal in all 50 states. Healthcare workers who know of this crime are mandated to report it to the authorities; failure to do so is a crime in itself.
Over the last year, a pro-life organization called Life Dynamics conducted a “sting” operation. LD called over 800 Planned Parenthood facilities, having a woman pose as a 13 year-old girl pregnant by her 22 year old boyfriend. At no time did she suggest that her that her parents might become abusive due to her sexual activity. The results were shocking. The PP employees overwhelmingly agreed to conceal the crime; many of them actually coaching the girl to lie about, or conceal, the age of her boyfriend. All these calls were recorded. This data has been examined by law enforcement all over the country, and the results confirmed.
An example call:Soldotna Alaska; “I'm going to be 14 next month, and my boyfriend is 22...” - PP employee: “It's kind of illegal for a boy over 21 to have sex with a girl.” CALLER: “ Why is it illegal? I don't understand.” PP: “It's called statutory rape.” “Can I bring him in when I have the abortion?” PP: “ You know what? I would not bring him in...Forget you told me that.”
Okolona, Kentucky: When Life Dynamics undercover caller asked whether the clinic would turn in her overage “boyfriend”, she was told, “Well, I'll be honest with you. By law because your are 13 years old, we should. Now we've never reported anybody, OK?”
irtually every one of the Planned Parenthood clinics who were called were willing, with a wink and a nod, to conceal these crimes. in 90% of the instances where the “girl” raised the possibility that she might not be pregnant, PP agreed to supply her with birth control to help her conceal this illegal relationship. In many instances, the caller was told that the “boyfriend” - the perp - could come to the clinic to pick up the contraceptives. This amounts to conspiring with the perp not only to cover up the crime, but also offering to provide him the means to continue committing this crime.
Whatever would be PP's motive? PP presents itself as a caring, child and parent-friendly outfit, with women's health being it's highest concern. The answer is that PP is not a community service organization, it is a business. It receives, according to its own documents, $350 for a first trimester abortion, $475 for 12-13 weeks, 1,250 for abortions between 18 and 20 weeks. They rake in over 68 million dollars a year in abortion “business”. The myth is also that PPFA is a “non-profit” organization. The non-profit status was worked out with the IRS and applies only to it's “education” services. And of course, we the taxpayers are forced to be complicit in PP's crimes since they receive millions from Title X. As our local Director of PP of the Hudson Valley said years ago, to the Poughkeepsie Journal, “Our primary business is selling contraceptives.” The yearly average income from the sale of the Pill alone is 40 million dollars. Jennifer Shagan, founder of DC National Organization for Women said at a recent meeting that NOW is working closely with PP because, she said, “They have LOTS of money!”
Mid-Hudson STOPP calls for an investigation of Planned Parenthood in NY State. This is a national pattern, and it is unlikely that New York affiliates don't have the same (unwritten) policy. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, STOPP demands that those who are concerned about child abuse turn their attention in this direction. As Founder and Director of Mid-Hudson Valley Stop Planned Parenthood, I call upon our local legislators, as well as Governor Pataki, and Attorney General Spitzer, to launch an investigation of Planned Parenthood in New York. To fail to do so is to encourage child sexual predators, protected by Planned Parenthood, to continue this egregious abuse of minor children.

A sanitized version of my letter was published. I consider the exposure of PP's coverup of rape quite important; yet NO ONE followed it up; and I mean no one on our side. The Editor made the point a while ago that not enough women write letters to the papers. But I have been BEGGING people to FOLLOW UP when wefinally get a letter published. Nothing. And yet this is a killer issue. We could have gotten milage with it against PP, and PP's backers, by having a series of letters hammering this home. We blew it again.

Letter to the Poughkeepsie Journal (et al) (July 1, 2005)
Finally. Kudos to Senator Steve Saland for his bill targeting all child predators, including Planned Parenthood (PP). Mid-Hudson PP has been giving a wink and a nod to clear cases of statutory rape, as was proven by a ‘sting’ operation operated by the Texas based Life Dynamics International. These outrages have been committed by PP nationally, and in Kansas and Indiana, PP is being seriously investigated by their respective District Attorneys. STOPP brought the issue to [Dutchess County] DA Grady a few years ago, with no effect.
Saland had proposed a similar bill at that time, but “at the 11th hour”, as he told me in a lengthy phone conversation, was pressured by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU to exempt abortion providers from being mandated reporters.
Why would PP want such an exemption? Supporters hide behind “privacy”. Yet your minor daughters could be the victims of sexual exploitation by adult men, and if they go to PP, as often urged by these criminals, for birth control and abortion, no one need know. Such children have been often urged not to tell the PP personell the age of their abusers (documentation on request). Why? PP would lose lots of money. Far from being advocates for children, PP profits from them.
One would hope that other politicians who covet PP's political support would think again, face the fact that Planned Parenthood supports and hides criminal activity, and maybe put child protection above their their blind lust to be re-elected.

Dear All, (June 23, 2005)
Please join me in contacting Senator Frist's office and please pass this on.
I contacted the senator's office and told them that Dick Durbin's “Apology” is too little too late. His statements were treasonous. He gave aid and comfort to the enemy during wartime.
I pointed out that Senator Frist only has his job because of an innocent remark by Senator Lott at a party for an old man. Senator Durbin's remarks were on the floor of the senate and were picked up by the enemy media.
Enough is enough, these extreme liberals have got to face the consequences of their actions. People have and will probably die as a result of this. We have to stop it now.

Dear All,
Please assist in what ever way you can. Send donations, pass this on or pray.
A young woman in Alexandria Va. has suffered a brain hemorrhage. She can not survive, but her husband is keeping her alive in order to allow their baby to survive. The woman must stay on life support 'til at least July 11th. This at the cost to the family of $1500 a day. The insurance picks up the rest. Though the report on EWTN was not clear to if the total is $1500 with the insurance picking up only part. In any case the cost is becoming prohibitive.

Culture of Life? (May 10, 2005)
To the [Poughkeepsie Journal] Editor:
Note to folks at Planned Parenthood: Tell Steve White go up his dosage of ginko baloba, stat!
Steve and I go way back, from the founding of my outfit, Stop Planned Parenthood back in 1985. Over the years, we have often commiserated about the perils of being aging Baby Boomers. But his letter of May 9 is alarming. I hope that letter was ghost written, otherwise, it appears his wits are escaping him!
Planned Parenthood backs the Culture of Life? How? By whacking millions of unborn human beings a year? By being the formost promoter and provider of this grisly practice throughout the world? Would Mr. White deny this? If so, then I issue him a challenge I issued a few years ago; if Steve White will debate me (he used to), and prove that abortion does not kill a living human being, I will pay him 500 dollars.
How to become a part of the Culture of Life?
Stop selling death.

It is hard to agree with the analysis of Pope John Paul II. Yes, he may have accepted the truth with sane difficultly and it may be as true of the Communists as it was of the Nazi's that they would accuse others falsely of Homosexuality.
The process of getting a man out of the priesthood is a long one. I also doubt any one ever informed him that any men suggested for the Episcopate was suspected of never mind was a homosexual.
As for Pope Benedict XVI, as a real “Inquisitor”, he was after all Prefect for the Congregation of the Faith, the modern day name for the Inquisition. He has the benefit of knowing ahead of time what is going on. The rest about in effect his standing for no nonsense and it benefitting everyone is absolutely correct.

I had the same problem. I even offered to get copies of her medical record and statements from doctors. I was told my only source had to be AP. I explained I was trying to refute AP. The only thing I would be allowed to say was I did not agree with AP.
BTW There was no medical evidence she had an eating disorder. At one point though she was quite heavy, that too could have been his mistreatment and ignoring her. Only paying attention when he wanted.
There was medical evidence of neck injuries consistent with strangulation.

A Voice of Reason (March 27, 2005)
Please allow me to be the voice of reason. I probably don't want the feeding tube removed either. But not because it is “murder”.
That is extreme. I don't want it removed because it seems to cause extreme pain to her parents. This decision is made thousands of times a day.
Usually, it is not news because all concerned parties agree it is what the loved one wanted. In this case, it is not that way. Or is it? The judge listened to evidence and decided it was what she would have wanted.
I and if you think about it, you also doubt that the judge had made his mind up before he heard any evidence. Somebody had to make the decision and this judge did that.
What is it that has people so outraged? Is it that her husband had a right to say what he thought even if it disagreed with her parents? If so change the law and make parents responsible until they or the child dies. With Alzheimer's as prevalent as it is, this would truly cause all kind of problems. Also, the Bible says a man and a woman shall leave their parents and start their own life together as one.
If it that withdrawing feeding tubes of anyone is “murder”, change the law that allows that. (By the way, you would have a tough time in my opinion doing that- this is accepted by many people including many religous leaders)
By publicizing this case, people have really only made it more unlikely that the feeding tube will be reinstated, because apparently the only one able to do that is her husband. And the pro-life people have attacked him relentlessly on television making it extremely unlikely he would ever change his mind. So the political action and religous fervor has made sure that the feeding tube will never be reinserted by backing him into a corner, the exact opposite of what was wanted by the political activists.
If you care about life, realize there are thousands (approximately 20,000 - 30,000 people) who die every day from starvation and if this much care and action were put into raising money and feeding those people there would be incredible results.
What really irks me is people who claim to be “Christian” and forget what that word means. It means to emulate Christ, to truly believe in what he stood for. He allowed himself to be put on a cross by people who did not agree with him. He did not threaten them, he did not bully them, he did not demand that he have his way or else he would slander and defame them. He accepted God's will with grace and understanding and LOVE for his persecuters.
If people emulated Christ, then you would change minds and the world.
I am sure the judge was not thrilled at doing what he had to do. But what he did was apparently the law and he had to enforce it. Several courts have said so. And now because the courts have disagreed with people's desires they are terrible and horrible and murderers. Give me a break, they are for the most part honorable men who must make difficult choices every day that have serious repercussions in people's lives. What a difficult and mostly thankless task. Yet in this case they are reviled for doing what they thought was right.
I remember something about judge not, lest you be judged yet many people feel competent to slander these judges. Walk a mile in their shoes, make difficult decisions guided by the law and not what you feel that day.
If you really want to make a difference, prevent further cases like this and help the Florida Bar distribute living wills so people can put in writing what they want done in situations like this. I think you can download them from the website.
And don't give me any medical mumbo jumbo, like Terri is not in a permanent vegetative state. She has not improved in fifteen years as I understand it. That strikes me as pretty permanent. I believe in miracles and the God given gift of intellect which allows the creation of science that may one day help people in Terri's condition, but it apparently doesn't exist yet.
It is also this intellect that allows us to create the greatest country on the face of the planet, a country ruled by laws and not a mobocracy.
Rather than protest and back people into a corner, maybe people should spend their time praying that God might change Mr. Schiavo's heart. Put your faith in God, not Jeb Bush or the Congress.

Terri Schiavo Being Murdered by Court (March 24, 2005)
Recently the Journal refused to publish a letter of mine because I disagreed with an AP report in the Terri Schindler (Schiavo) case, even though I offered confirmation of why I disagreed.
Now I have a comment. Since that time much of what I discussed has been in the TV media at least. They are presented as suspicions and those who made the statements have signed sworn affidavits.
In my opinion all the talk we have over the years of “Judicial Tyranny”, has glaringly manifested itself in this case. A new law was made which was totally ignored by the courts. One black robe has held Terri's life in his hands. The facts have never been reviewed by any other court. Only the process and then rubber stamped. Based on “hearsay” evidence an innocent woman is dying as I write, in a manner we would go to jail for imposing on a dog.
The only other thing I can say if Terri dies we can never complain about anyone else's human right's violations. We have become Nazi Germany. You might like to know that a Rabbi was interviewed that agrees with me.
God have Mercy upon those courts and any one that could have and did not help prevent what in my opinion is judicially sanctioned murder. Pontius Pilot all over again. God have mercy on us.

As I write, Tom Delay and several Republicans are having a Press Conference. They say they have a solution that is acceptable to both Republicans & Dememocrats, and should be in special session tomorrow at 1 P.M., and Terri's feeding tube would be restored while a long term solution is found.

Hunger Strike for Terri Schiavo (March 11, 2005)
I have spoken with several Pro-Life organizations who like the idea of a hunger strike for Terri, if God forbid, her feeding tube is removed. One of them is Concerned Women For America. Other prolife leaders see this as an appropriate last resort...I will report on those as soon as they formally give me permission to publicize their names.
Understand: this is NOT a suicidal effort; it simply comes down to putting our principles where our mouths are, as it were. No, we would not deny ourselves water; we need to advocate for her.
Those who have scruples with this idea can take comfort in the principle of “double effect” - the intent is NOT to harm ourselves, but to do all we can to prevent a clear case of murder.
Speaking personally, I remember the last time Terri's feeding tube was removed. The helplessness I felt, counting the days, the terribly painful days of Terri's Calvary were agony.
There are a growing number of us who refuse to let Terri feel her agony alone; we will taste only a drop of it..but we will be with her, as physically close to her pain as we can.
Please consider joining.

Somehow, some way Terri Schindler Schiavo must be rescued from this illegal and immoral captivity
This judge needs to be investigated too. He most certainly is not following the law.
The tube has been the issue and I say it is more than the tube. Terri is being held captive, illegally. Can the world wait 'til she is murdered to prove it? Some action must be taken that will release her from her captivity.

Yeah, they forgot the part about Dan Rather saying that while the documents were not real the story was. He must have known what was coming because he said he would retire even though he had planned to stay another years. Jr should be fired too NOW.
Surely they think “He is leaving anyway why bother”. I think the retirement was only to be from news anchor. He would still keep his post at “60 Min”.

This February, we are about to execute Scott Peterson. As a Christian, I think that is so sick. It just nausiates me to know he had the heart to do what he he did, now we have the heart to kill him. That is stupid. We are creating a human genocide everyday. God created life in the beginning and said for it to multiply. Now that we choose to kill, life can not do so. God's creation is thrown away like garbage. Someone needs to go to that court room and say do we want another Halocaust of human beings. That is what abortion, wars, and the death penalty are. It needs to stop. Life is what God had planned. Please help me save it.

Matthew Shepard Revisited (November 29, 2004)
The most insidious aspect of this case is how the homosexual activists exploited it to get bogus “hate crime” laws passed.
Matthew Shepard was a man created in the image of God. (Gen 1:27) That reason alone made his life precious. Unfortunately for all of us, his memory has been reduced to a mere sexual identity by a bunch of opportunists.
I feel sorry for Matthew's mother. Her grief has been abused to further the narrow-minded agenda of the homosexual lobby.

Pro-lifers - won't be fooled again - we begin with Assemblyman Miller!!! (October 26, 2004)
Dear Pro-Lifer,
Are you sick of politicians who promise to be pro-life when they need our votes but dump us once they are in office? Do you feel that our elected officials have taken our pro-life vote for granted? Sadly, too many Republican politicians have been guilty of this.
Assemblyman Joel Miller is one such politician. He told us he was pro-life when he wanted our help to get elected and has become more pro-abortion each year in office. Now, when he meets with us, he continually supports the pro-abortion position and tells us that its power, not what's right that counts! Would you like to help us give Assemblyman Miller a lesson in power?
Many people I have talked to agree to substitute a “write in” candidate for Mr. Miller. That “write in” candidate is me, Helen Westover! So, when voting for Assemblyman on November 2, bring a pencil to write in my name, Helen Westover, at the top of the column 12 for Assemblyman. It's not hard. You must push a slide upwards to expose the write in area. HOLD IT FIRMLY as it is spring-loaded and if it closes before you write in my name, you've voted for none of the above! Write in my name and then let the slide go. It is a two handed operation. Ask one of the poll workers for help before entering the booth if you need it. Remember. It is column 12 on the ballot.
I need to get 2000+ write ins to show Mr. Miller that pro-lifers mean business in Dutchess and we are not going to take it any more! Please contact 10 more people to follow your lead to write in my name.
This could be the start of something very powerful! Lets show Mr. Miller we want pro-life representation in the assembly!

Losing Our Rights (October 11, 2004)
This morning shortly after arriving at work, I received a phone call that a dedicated counselor, Arlene, was unable to report for her shift because she was in jail in Philadelphia. A few hours later, she called me indicating she had been released at 10 am this morning. Here's her story:
Sunday, Oct. 10 was the day of the “Outfest,” a sodomite event in downtown Philadelphia at 12th & Locust Sts. Arlene, along with ten other individuals, including a couple of street preachers, were determined to get the Gospel out to these men and women living lives that God calls an “abomination.” Their mission was one of love not only towards God, but directed towards these individuals who are headed for Hell.
Upon arrival at the event, the pastors began their messages by calling men and women to repentance. Gospel presentations were clearly given, and they were challenged to abandon their lifestyles to live for Jesus. Others handed out literature to those who would accept it. This was all occurring on a public sidewalk in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love.
Several of the homosexuals had brought large pink angels to hold up and encircle and mock the Christians. This was done to blockade any evangelism they attempted to do.
Shortly, the police came and demanded the Believers leave the street. When questioned, the police became angry and began cuffing everyone behind their backs. Even when explanations were given that we have freedom of speech and that they were on a pubilc street, the police ignored them and forced them into a paddy wagon. At no time were their rights read, nor any charges explained. Upon arrival at the police station, they were questioned, fingerprinted, and had their pictures taken. The arrests occurred at approximately 1:30 Sunday afternoon. None of the homosexuals were arrested, including those holding the large pink angels.
At approximately 8:30 pm, the women were transferred to the “Round House,” a jail facility in Philadelphia. This time cuffs were in the front, but still no charges were explained to the prisoners. Upon arrival at this second police station/jail, they were again questioned, fingerprinted and pictures taken. Still no charges were explained; no rights were read to them.
Finally at 10 am Monday morning (today) they were released. They are all charged with the following: Three felony counts of Criminal conspiracy, ethnic intimidation, and riot. Five misdemeanor charges including failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, and obstructing a highway (the street?). We are assuming the felony charges are being pressed under the PA Hate Crime laws promoted by Gov. Rendell (Home Security).
A hearing is scheduled for next Monday morning. The Believers are being represented by the American Family Association attorney, Joe Murray, from Mississippi. He is enraged at this situation.
The Christians involved include Arlene Elshinnawy, Collegeville; Randall and Linda Beckman and Nancy Major, all of Phoenixville. Mike Marcavage was one of the street preachers arrested. I am not aquainted with the others. A sixteen year old girl from VA was also arrested and placed in juvenile detention. She was has unknown charges.
Also, Linda Beckman is being transferred to a women's facility for an undetermined time. Apparently they were able to resurrect an old warrant dating back to abortion clinic rescues. Remember the old quote: “Be a hero, save a whale, save a baby, go to jail.” Linda had labored for several years trying to close down abortion clinics, even if it meant being placed in jail. She, Nancy, and Arlene were involved in closing the clinic in King of Prussia a year ago.
Please pray safety for these individuals, particulary Linda Beckman. Also, that God would use her in a mighty way while in jail with other women. Linda is not ashamed of the Gospel and will intently minister to women incarcerated with her. Please pray too for safety and wisdom for the attorney. He needs much more time to prepare for the case than has been provided.
Possibly this will be a “wake up call” to many Christians. Our rights are slowly being taken away. There will no doubt come a time in the not too distant future where pastors and individuals will not be able to speak out against homosexuality and abortion without being arrested. Canada has such laws and is enforcing them. Apparently Philadelphia is also.

Re: Poughkeepsie Journal Bias (October 4, 2004)
So true about PJ bias. There was another one that allowed a writer to publish a letter saying Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger stated Catholics can vote for J. Kerry if they agree on other issues.
Once I wrote a letter comparing Frank Patterson and Frank McCourt. I quoted from his autobiography “Angela's Ashes”. I was told I could not publish because of my “Ad hominem attack” on Frank McCourt. Apparently lucky them had not read it. But really.

Re: “Partial Birth” (D&X) Abortion and the “Health” of the Mother (August 27, 2004)
Ron Fitzsimmons, executive director iof the National Association of Abortion Providers said: “I learned right away (from calling abortionists who use the procedure) that this was being done for the most part in cases that did not involve..extreme circumstances.” In the March 3,1997 (Vol. 40-#9) edition of American Medical News, Fitzsimmons calls for the end of “lies and half truths” on the subject. the AMA News goes on, “What abortion rights supporters failed to acknowledge, Fitzimmons says, is that the vast majority of these abortions are performed in the 20-plus week range on healthy fetusus and healthy mothers. ‘The abortion rights know it, the anti-abortion folks know it, and so, probably, does everyone else.’”
The issue is the definition of “Health” as defined by the companion case to Roe v Wade, Doe v Bolton, which defines it as “...All factors; including economic, sociological, psychological, and the woman's age...”(Doe v Bolton, Jan 22 1973).
When we say they are lying through their teeth on the issue of abortion, one could claim that we have a bias. When one of the industry's OWN says it, it is time for people to take notice.
How about it, Mr. White of Planned Parenthood? Will you take responsibility for the “lies and half-truths” (Fitzsimmons' phrase, not mine) told by your organization?
I won't hold my breath.

The Four Horsemen Must All Go the Way of the Dodo Bird (August 23, 2004)
My Fellow Americans,
We are being dragged by the nose back to fachism by this current administration. No overtime, spying on our own people, un-nessessary wars built on lies and deception, religeon mixing with government i.e.; “The faith based Initiative”, corporations ruling the government and now trying to rule the people as well. Wake up America! How many lies must we turn our back to? How many more young americans must die for this administration's corporate and political gains. We must NOT let this stand! The four horsemen, Bush, Cheny, Ashcroft and Rumsfeld must all go the way of the Dodo bird, before we do. They care nothing about the American people, period! Our rights are diminished, our freedoms diminishing faster. Now even our right to fair pay for long hours is gone. It has to stop somewhere. If it doesn't, a lot of people are going to become immigrants, as long as they don't close the borders to keep us in and I wouldn't put that past them either. They wish to reduce us to slave labor? Yes, they would love it. I used to be proud to be an American. I Hope that I can be proud again someday. But, not today!

Result of Court Appearance; Yorktown (August 20, 2004)
Chris Ferrara and I appeared in Yorktown court yesterday, and entered a plea of “not guilty” to being a parade...( picketing with Malachi).
The prosecutor had been given precedent information by Chris, which it appears he had not yet read. He seemed perplexed. We were given another date of Sept. 23 to appear, unless the prosecutor gets his head together and drops the charges. Chris is working on this today. If he doesn't drop the charges (OK with me, Folks!), we will be given a trial date.
Some background: after the arrest, I called the Chief of Police in Yorktown, and told him that if the charges are not dropped, he and the Town would really, really regret it. I warned him that he was in First Amendment territory, and even relayed to him our victory in the Town of Poughkeepsie. These people were given a fair warning. I was sincere in my conversation with the Chief. Perhaps he relayed this information to the prosecutor, perhaps not. This is no longer my problem.
One way or another, we we will be suing for false arrest, and later, in civil court for a First Amendment violation.
The only time I would appreciate supporters if if this goes to trial. I will let you all know.

The only thing about Dick Morris's statements is while apparently B. Clinton and John Edwards spoke of schools, wages etc. and that “terror is something you read about in the paper---”, while these other issues are things that we deal with. Well maybe that story is good for the the liberals, but the fact is we all lived with 9/11. Maybe people want to forget, but we are all still living with terrorism. For anyone to put that aside has to be evil.

Don't Add to Soldiers' Families' Grief (July 27, 2004)
I'm just a concerned mother for her son who was injured in Iraq. My son no longer has the muscles or nerves in his left shoulder/arm. This makes him non-deployable to the Marines. In the Marines you have to pass the physical test, which of course my son is unable to do because of his injury. Now after a year they gave him the option to stay until his enlistment is up in 2005 or take a Medical Discharge. He opted Medical.
The career in the Marines and then after that becoming a police officier my son can not have because of the injury. He will be haunted by the memories from this war. He will be discontent in a job he has to settle for instead of one that he wanted. He has scars that will take a long time to heal.
I guess my point is that it bothers me to hear all the complaining and negative talk concerning our military, police and firemen. They risk their lives for us and all we can do is grumble and talk negative. It would be nice if we could show some appreciation to these people and be more positive about our country.
Don't add to the grief of the families who lost loved ones or who's loved ones have permanent injuries. Thank them. It is because of them is why you have the freedom to be the negative person you are.

The entire problem with Kerry's admission is that, as did Cardinal Egan, he reduces the scientific facts to a “belief”. This is not a matter of sectarian “belief:, but a scientific, medical fact - I go nuts when priests say, ”we believe that life begins at conception..."! I also believe that 2+2=4. Ask any invitro doctor who is fertilizing an egg with a sperm if he believes that he has wound up with a human life - if he didn't he wouldn't implant it.
So - the Catholic church has shot itself in the foot on this one - “your religion, my religion; who is to say?” Or, “My truth, your truth; who decides?” Kerry is going with the subjective here, a lesson he has learned from the Church itself - and thanks for nothing Egan.
Crap!

Vice President Chaney appeared on Neal Cavuto, today at 4:00 P.M., Fox News and stated clearly that while he probably cursed Sen. Leahy, he did not use the language he is accused of.
While I am not for any bad language, if someone attacked my reputation as Sen. Leahy has the Vice Presidents and then wanted to make nice, like nothing happened, I would most likely feel better telling him off too.

The betrayal of Toomey, imperfect though he be, was far more than “Annoying”! It showed the depth of Bush's “Deeply Held Beliefs”or DHB's on the issue of ripping babies apart, and draining their brains from them while they are alive, and literally, kicking.
This means that we will not, for years, get a pro-life SC “justice”. It doesn't MATTER, don't you know, who gets elected, at least for STOPP's issue. The courts run the country; we are no longer a democracy, as we' ve seen in Mass. with the 67% opposing homo marriage, and the court saying, tough S*#!.

Recently I had a conversation with a Correction Officer who transported an inmate to the Poughkeepsie Planned Parenthood on Noxon St. He mentioned that when they entered the waiting room there were several people watching the Jerry Springer show on t.v. An employee of Planned Parenthood entered the room and switched the television to another channel. When asked why she replied that Jerry Springer was “too violent.”

Rich VanSlambrook was told by the Letters people that this, time-sensitive letter, which again brings out your paper's inability to report news, would be published “sometime”.
Coupled with Rich's statement to me that he “had no excuse” for not publishing the AP story on the March of Jan.22, all you are doing here is reinforcing our claim that your paper is incorrigibly biased.
You may know, also that Rich VanSlambrook also sent out a press release about the LOCAL march at PP - isn't that John Ferro's responsibility - which was also ignored.

Check with me before you write about “pro-life Leaders”. Randall Terry is not! He was scooped up with Joe Scheidler v NOW RICO case, and bailed. He wouldn't even testify for Joe. (This is from Joes'lips - spoke to him about it last month). Then, when the Supreme Court ruled in Joe's favor, Terry ran outside to grab the microphones, and make it look like it was his victory. He then snookered Alan Keyes to help him raise funds - to buy a home in Florida, for himself and his new wife - (having deserted his former wife and kids). He is taking over the April 25 counter-demonstration - he has taken credit for saving the life of Terri Schiavo (hundreds of prolife organizations worked on that one, including STOPP). I am still receiving full color, 4 page stuff from Keyes, to get more money for Terry - while it is Scheidler's money held up by red tape - his lawyers fees, etc. - not Terry's.
Keyes is also a fraud - he condemns Face The Truth demonstrations - that means Scheidler, Father Pavone, Center for Bioethical Reform - and STOPP: even though these demonstrations have been instrumental in reducing abortion, expecially among young teens.
Terry is a coward, a liar, and a hypocrite - no true prolife leader will have anything to do with him.

To the Editor:
There is a fundamental difference between those who are pro-life and those who support Planned Parenthood. Pro-life advocates believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child has a right to life from that moment, whereas Planned Parenthood supporters deny the life and humanity of the unborn child.
That the life and humanity of the unborn child are real is proven by some of the reasons that people support abortion. Over 80% of children conceived who are discovered to have Downs Syndrome are aborted. In India and China, a highly disproportionate number of female children are aborted because they are female.
The enthusiasm with which pro-“choice” activists demand Medicaid funding for abortions (obviously, pro-life women who pay taxes have no right to choose what to do with the monetary fruits of their physical labor!) and the presence of so many Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics in poor neighborhoods leads one to conclude that they are carrying out Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger's eugenic disapproval of the poor and “unfit” being allowed to “breed”.
Not all pro-life advocates are conservative Christians -- I have friends in the movement who are feminists, atheists, Jews, liberals, Democrats, pacifists, labor activists, witches, and gays and lesbians. As a gay rights activist myself, I am very concerned that if the “gay gene” is ever discovered, gay and lesbian unborn children will routinely be aborted. All human rights depend on the right to life from life's beginning at conception to its end at a natural death.

To The Editor:
Joseph Wasnorowicz's letter (to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Jan 11) was outrageous, and characteristic of the fuzzy thinking employed by so many Catholics, when faced with the facts about the terrible failures of the current hierarchy. His theology is lame, his thinking mindless.
“There can be no greater crime than to offend God..” by suing the Church? Wrong! Matthew 18:6 flushes that “thought” - “And if anyone leads one of these My little ones to sin, better for him that a millstone be fastened to his neck and he be thrown into the sea.” That's Christ's opinion of the priests who prey on children, Joseph. I would remind him that the problem, as in Watergate, was worsened by the coverup. Bishops protecting bishops - a network of pederast priests which has been documented in Michael Rose's “Goodby Good Men”.
The real crime, is the soul murder of these children. It cries to heaven for justice, Mr. Wasnorowicz. Some of these children are psychologically damaged beyond repair, without years of intensive therapy. Many of them will never darken the doors of the church, ever again. Soul murder. “Victims should repent?” Are you out of your mind?
We are to forgive, Joseph, sins commited against ourselves - not sins committed by predators on children. How God will judge them is His business - we must judge them by their crimes.
And while you're at it, why not call the Archdiocese of NY, and ask why “Fast Eddie” Egan, (the Cardinal who told me to my face, “We don't know when life begins”), why his outfit is not yet in compliance.

Government Warning regarding purchase of UPS uniforms: There has been a huge purchase, $32,000 worth, of United Parcel Service (UPS) uniforms on eBay over the last 30 days.
This could represent a serious threat as bogus drivers (terrorists) can drop off anything to anyone with deadly consequences! If you have ANY questions when a UPS driver appears at your door, they should be able to furnish VALID I.D.
Additionally, if someone in a UPS uniform comes to make a drop off or pick up, make absolutely sure they are driving a UPS truck. UPS doesn't make deliveries or pickups in anything, except a company vehicle.
If you have a problem, IMMEDIATELY call your local law enforcement agency right away! TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! Tell everyone in your office, your family, your friends, etc. Make people aware so that we can prepare and/or avoid terrorist attacks on our people! Pro-life Counter Demonstration of N.O.W. and Naral (Dec. 11, 2003)
NOW and NARAL are organizing a Death March on Washington, DC to be held on April 25, 2004. Clearly, they are in a state of panic as they attempt to broaden their appeal by calling it a rally against George Bush, the Republican Party and including racial and economic issues. Please refer to NOW's website for more details.
It is imperative that the pro-life/antiabortion community respond to those tactics through a counter-demonstration. Only then may we maintain the focus on the critical issue of abortion. We cannot permit the pro-aborts to have the only voice on April 25, 04 as the Supreme Court, the Congress, the media and the American public monitor this struggle.
Please join us. This is not about competing organizations. What is at stake is the partial birth abortion ban, confronting the overall issue of abortion and saving the next victim. We are requesting all who participate to wear a red T-shirt. In that way, we are viewed as more of a unified group than simply a crowd. Thank you.

Abortion Sharks Circle the Christian Gallery News Service (Dec. 10, 2003)
The link at the bottom of this note takes you to an article about the Christian Gallery News Service published this week in the “Women's News.”
The writer can hardly contain his glee at the successful censorship of the Christian Gallery News Service even though he makes it clear he expects us to be able to return.
To date that appears unlikely since only two people have pledged to help provide the funding necessary to fight the censorship. All we have received from the millions of Christians who know about the Christian Gallery News Service is silence.
As you read the article, think about the silence in the Christian community in the USA as the censorship of the Christian Gallery News Service grows. The abortion community watches us like a hawk because, as the writer says, “...the site came to symbolize for pro-choice activists and embattled physicians, the violent war of attrition against abortion providers.” But, at the same time that the testimony of the abortionists prove our effectiveness in deterring abortion, the “Christian” “Pro-Life” community in this nation does its best to pretend we are not even alive.
They probably don't even think about how transparent their fear is to the enemy. Like a terrified rabbit in front of the hunter, or a timid deer caught in the glare of a headlight, the Christians in this nation are frozen in place trying to pretend that the horrible desecration happening on their watch does not matter to their relationship with the Holy Spirit.
But it's a charade. Deep in their fear-fevered brain even the most hostile Christians know what is happening to the Christian Gallery News Service is important. I have received numerous messages from irate Christians who say things like, “when the persecution of Christians spreads across this nation, it will be because of you and the people like you...”
Listen closely to the writer of the article below and you will sense that he, like the rest of the abortion community in this nation, think they smell blood with the successful censorship of the Christian Gallery News Service. Like hungry sharks, the abortionists in this nation have been circling us for a long time. The only question remaining is whether The Christian Gallery News Service is food for the hungry sharks or chum designed to stir the sharks out into the open for other purposes. Knowing the Lord Jesus Christ like I do, I lean toward the chum theory in spite of the almost total lack of support we presently receive. Call me silly...or call me faithful.

RE: ACLU Protests Monitoring of Anti-war Monitoring (Nov. 24, 2003)
Bill,
Nadine Strossen, the Presidentress of the National ACLU, once sat in the chair next to me while we were being televised as part of a panel at the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt U. Things were going hot and heavy in the public debate and I was having some success showing that Ms. Strossen was a duplicitous stooge of the abortion industry. When attention was focused away from our end of the table, Ms. Strossen put her hand over her microphone, leaned away from it and motioned for me to move closer so she could tell me something. With our eyes about five inches apart, she said, “It'll be a cold day in hell before you ever get any help from the ACLU.”
I could tell from her eyes that she meant it.
Rather than ask her for help and give her the satisfaction of telling me no I would take anything this world can throw at me.

Doe vs. Bolton
On Jan. 22, 1973 the US Supreme Court handed down two landmark decisions pertaining to abortion. Roe v. Wade which legalized abortion through the second trimester, and the companion case of Doe vs. Bolton. Doe extended the right to abort at any stage of pregnancy including while giving birth, provided the mother's health is at risk. The court defined the mother's health as her age, and/or her physical, psychological, and financial well-being. That is why our political leadership elected to leave out a health clause in the partial-birth abortion ban.
Plaintiffs in Roe and Doe have filed with the courts to overturn those decisions. Norma McCorvery and Sandra Cano claim they were used by attorneys with political agendas who misrepresented them to the point of perjuring themselves before the Court. Mrs. Cano originally sought the help of the ACLU seeking custody of her children. Cano stated “She asked what I thought about it, and I said I was against it. Abortion is against every belief I have. I've never been for abortion. I never went for an abortion. I was not the person they say I was.” Nonetheless her attorney Margie Hames stated in court that Cano was denied an abortion because she couldn't afford one. The hospital cited was unable to produce a record of application or denial.
The Journal's failure to reference Doe in articles addressing the partial-birth abortion ban, particularly the court's definition of the mother's health reveals their bias and journalistic irresponsibility.

The following was sent to the editor of the Poughkeepsie Journal today.
To the Editor;
Whom should we hold more accountable for failing to honor their mandate in the Terri Schiavo debacle, feminist organizations or the Catholic Church?
Terri Schiavo lies alone in a hospital bed slowly dying from starvation and no one seems to care. Her husband claims that the court order(s) he sought to end her life are in compliance with her wishes. That claim however has been refuted under sworn testimony by a former girlfriend of Michael Schiavo. His claim also lacks supporting documentation of a will or anything in writing to substantiate it. Michael Schiavo as her beneficiary will receive an enormous amount of money from a malpractice suit that otherwise is earmarked through a trust fund to pay for Terri's medical expenses. The same man that despite still being married to Terri, has fathered two children with another woman whom he resides with, is engaged to, and through his admission intends to marry. Is there perhaps a credibility issue here?
Is this the vision of America that feminist groups wish to promote? Is this how they intend to advance women's health and equal opportunity issues?
The Catholic Church bears no less guilt. Their silence reveals a politically correct, morally bankrupt agenda. This is not a question of natural death, as proven by her responsivieness, but one of imposing the sanction of a tortured death through starvation. Such silence renders them complicit in her cruel and inhumane suffering and demise. Terri Schiavo is most likely doomed to that fate. Clerics can however speak out to ensure that this does not happen to future Terri Schiavo's. They should reflect upon those realities before constructing another homily of hope and human dignity.
As the Church and feminist groups are diametrically opposed on several platforms, one would expect them to stand together in support of Terri Schiavo. Sadly, they are equally self-serving.

Having studied about and with Jehovah's Witnesses since 1987 - enough time to amass a library of primary source materials - some clarification is in order with respect to the July 22 Poughkeepsie Journal article on the new Kingdom Hall being built in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Jehovah's Witnesses consider themselves the only true Christian sect. In reality they eschew historic Christian doctrines as satanic. The Watchtower magazine is published to expose all other churches as false.
Their New World Translation Bible was produced to fit their peculiar doctrine. One of the resources used was an independent translation channeled by a spirit medium during seances.
Armageddon was predicted in 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975 and 1999. They are perfect at being wrong 100% of the time.
People suffer alienation from the Witness community upon resignation or excommunication. One friend was disinvited from his daughter's wedding. Another has been shunned by his brother for nearly two decades. Saddest of all was the lady who died without ever knowing her grandchildren as both her adult Witness children disowned her. There is no honorable way to leave this religion.
The Watchtower's infamous ban on blood transfusions has cost countless lives of even babies and children. They also banned vaccinations and organ transplants during the course of their checkered history.
This commentary only scratches the surface. The following websites may be consulted for additional information: http://www.ajwrb.org and http://www.freeminds.org
By the way, God's name is not Jehovah - it's Yahweh.

Note: The following letter was published in the Poughkeepsie Journal. It is in reference to my letter published previously.
Same-sex marriage is based on caring
In regard to Mr. Kriebel's recent letter about gay marriage, it is unfortunate that he mentioned the word “hate.” I wonder if that is what underlies such a ridiculously masked and unreasonable approach to his discrimination and bigotry.
I don't hate Mr. Kriebel, as he intimates. In fact, I feel a great deal of sorrow for him and his slanted reasoning. He masks his homophobia in an anachronistic interpretation of marriage.
Marriage in the present era isn't necessarily about someone staying home with children. Marriage in this era usually means a relationship where both partners work, and both partners share the parenting. Both heterosexuals and homosexuals are equally capable of loving parenting. One needs only to look at children who are thrown hither and yon by their married, but unwilling, caregiver. It has to do with who the people are who take care of the children and whether they are good people or not. And your sexual orientation doesn't have anything to do with that.
In fact, marriage is an institution of love, respect and partnership for people who want children and those who decide not to have children. And heterosexuals and homosexuals should both be allowed to make this social contract, with all its benefits.
Don't look for hate in replies to your letter to the editor; I suggest rather you look in the mirror. I suggest you accept God's commands of love and concern for everyone. Homosexuals are also God's creation.

Today's article, "Grady clears Planned Parenthood in pro-life 'sting' "leaves out a few things:
- The documented fact that Senator Steven Saland's bill to mandate clergy to report sexual abuse was pulled at the point of passage due to Family Planning Associates' influence. The lobbying arm of PP, FPA killed Saland's bill (S6625) because it realized it would stiffen PP's obligation to report statutory rape.
- At the PP Annual Conference, 1997 in Phoenix, Arizona, a PPFA attorney, Darla Klassel, in discussing mandatory reporting, admits, "The child abuse reporting laws override confidentiality." Attorney Roger Evans: "Across the board." She replies, "In every state. Yeah,"
- These reports are being prosecuted in at least 5 states so far, by responsible authorities.
Executive Director Steve White's response, "They keep trying to find an angle to get us, and they can't." I remember similar crowing when STOPP campaigned to remove county funding from PP; then again when STOPP's exposure of PP's sex ed programs led local schools to refuse them entry. Some things take time: Mr. White knows from experience with STOPP that we can, and will, continue to struggle and win.
DA Grady should know that "confidentiality" laws are suspended in any case of criminality. Why would he evidence such profound ignorance of the law?

Dear Bill; Please post on your website.
THE O'REILLY FACTOR:
Planned Parenthood in Arizona is under fire for failing to report the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl
By Bill O'Reilly on the Fox News Network
Interview with James Hart, January 9, 2003
O'REILLY: In the "Impact" segment tonight, an Arizona judge has ruled that Planned Parenthood was negligent for failing to report to child protective services an abortion it set up for a 13-year-old girl who was living in a foster home. Sex with any minor, of course, is statutory rape. Planned Parenthood would not explain itself to us.
Joining us now from Phoenix is the attorney for the girl, whose name we are withholding, James Hart. All right, now, this is a really, really sordid case here. You got a 13-year-old girl that goes into Planned Parenthood, has an abortion. Planned Parenthood did not tell anybody. And by state law, they are -- they have to, they're compelled to do so, right, counselor?
JAMES HART, ATTORNEY FOR RAPED GIRL: That's correct. We have a state statute, as most states do, that require anyone giving care to a child to report any incidents that they have reasonable cause to believe occurred involving child molestation, sexual contact with a minor...
O'REILLY: All right.
HART: ... and sexual intercourse.
O'REILLY: So it's a state law. All right. So the girl goes in...
HART: It's a state law.
O'REILLY: ... Planned Parenthood gets her an abortion, 13, nobody knows about it, state doesn't know about it, nobody knows about it, OK? Then the girl comes back a second time. Is this correct?
HART: Six months later, the same perpetrator again impregnated her. And she came back to the same clinic and had to go through a second abortion, and she had to go through six months of this continued abuse because Planned Parenthood did not report it the first time.
O'REILLY: All right. Now, the perpetrator is a fos -- another fos -- person in -- 24-year-old, is that it?
HART: He was a 23-year-old who she called her foster brother. He was the natural son of the foster parents that the court had -- or the child protective services had sent her to. And she had been there for several years.
O'REILLY: All right. So she's living in a foster home, 23-year-old guy in there, OK? She's 13. He's impregnating her twice. Now, after the second time, Planned Parenthood did report it, correct?
HART: After some days they did report it to CPS, who contacted the Glendale Police Department, who arrested the perpetrator. He confessed, entered a guilty plea, and is now in prison.
O'REILLY: All right. Planned Parenthood, why were they not charged for the first go-around not reporting?
HART: I'm afraid I don't have the answer to that question. That would be have -- would have to be a question you'd have to pose to the Glendale Police Department or the county's attorney's office.
O'REILLY: All right. Maricopa County, and didn't you ask them, or did you do any investigation? We called them, you know. Everybody's running on this one counselor, you know that. Planned Parenthood is running, Maricopa County's running, everybody's running.
HART: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)...
O'REILLY: Did you ever investigate why they didn't charge Planned Parenthood?
HART:In order for me to represent Jane Doe, I had to file pleadings with the Maricopa County Juvenile Court, which set forth all the facts, set forth all the allegations, I should say, and at that point in time, a representative from the state county attorney responded, her various guardians responded. And they've had knowledge of this for quite some time.
O'REILLY: So it's basically that the authorities knew, and they simply would not charged Planned Parenthood, and we don't know the reason why.
HART: I do not know the reason why, or if charges were ever contemplated.
O'REILLY: All right. Now, in your deposition, I hope you get that and then call us and let us know, because the district attorney of Maricopa County -- who is that, by the way? Do you know who the DA is there?
HART: Richard Romley (ph) is the county attorney there.
O'REILLY: All right, Richard Romley, I mean, you know, we'll call him again and see if he can give us an answer. But, you know, as I said, they're running for cover. But you can get that information in a deposition.
So now you are suing Planned Parenthood, correct?
HART: Correct.
O'REILLY: All right. What are you asking for? And is it national or just the local you're suing?
HART: It's the Arizona chapter of Planned Parenthood. And we have not alleged any specific amount. We just want fair compensation for the damages she suffered for having to undergo that six months of continued molestation and the psychological damages she's going to suffer the rest of her life. And the physical damages, we don't even know what they are yet, because those things don't manifest until a woman is older.
O'REILLY: All right. She's 17 years old now, correct?
HART: Correct.
O'REILLY: And in your opinion, what kind of mental state is she in? Because obviously you are doing a battery of testing on her.
HART: She's doing fairly well under the circumstances. We have filed with the court psychological reports on her condition now, and of course, through her being a ward of the court and the state, she had ongoing psychological testing and tests, and she as doing pretty good.
O'REILLY: All right. Where is she? Is she in another foster home?
HART: She's in a group foster home.
O'REILLY: And next year she will be 18 and that's the end. Then she'll be an adult and put out, correct?
HART: Correct.
O'REILLY: All right. When is this going to be heard, do you know? Because we're going to follow this case. This is an interesting case, because Planned Parenthood, unfortunately, has done this before in other parts of the country and not been held accountable. And you're going to hold them accountable. So when is this going to be heard?
HART: We have a hearing next month to set a trial date in this matter. I don't know when the trial is going to be yet.
O'REILLY: All right. Keep us posted. We'd really like to know why the district attorney of Maricopa County did not indict Planned Parenthood officials, because they clearly violated the law in this case, leading to more pain and suffering for a lot of people, the two fetuses and the little girl, that's for sure.
Counselor, thanks very much, we appreciate it.
HART: Thank you.
O'REILLY: Plenty more ahead as THE FACTOR moves along this evening.

Recently your letters to the editor section carried reports of Planned Parenthood concealing Statutory Rape. The article written by Ms. Westover described a sting operation conducted by Life Dynamics headquartered in Texas. Life Dynamics selected a 23 year old woman with a youthful voice. She telephoned over 800 Planned Parenthood branches throughout the United States describing herself as a 13 year old adolescent who was impregnated by her 23 year old boyfriend. Those ages were stated to comply with the legal standard of rape predicated on age in all 50 states. All of the phone calls were recorded, and one of the branches was the Planned Parenthood located on Noxon St. in the City of Poughkeepsie. In over 90% of the calls representatives of Planned Parenthood provided one or more of the following advice:
- They proudly stated their record of never having reported Statutory Rape, and advised the caller to pretend she didn't mention her age. Thereby providing at least tacit approval.
- Not to bring her boyfriend with her during her appointment at Planned Parenthood.
- To pay for the abortion in cash to avoid a paper trail.
When contacted life Dynamics claimed their tapes were authenticated by an independent company through voice analysis as well as verification that the number dialed was in fact that specific office of Planned Parenthood.
Based solely on Life Dynamics assertions Planned Parenthood appeared to have established a national strategy of subverting mandated reporting requirements. Worse yet they actively participated in concealing acts of Rape. Serious and disturbing questions persist:
- Why didn't Planned Parenthood fulfill their legal if not moral obligation to report these offenses to the child's parents as well as Child Protection Services?
- If they earnestly believed they were protecting two people "in love" what assurance did they have the girl was not lying? The biological father of her baby could have very easily have been her father, step father, uncle or any variety of people other than her supposed 23 year old boyfriend. What made them conclude that the sexual act was consensual? Because she said so? Was she afraid, confused, or threatened with several other possible scenarios? Such as being separated from her mother and siblings? Certainly a rapist would have no qualms assaulting her.
- Most importantly, why isn't anything being done about this? Surely there is sufficient information to warrant a detailed investigation, and if confirmed those responsible should be indicted. The answer is obvious. Planned Parenthood has become an untouchable icon. Criticism of them is immediatly interpreted as an abortion rights issue rather than the child/victim/parent's rights issue which exists here.
I contacted staff members of District Attorney Grady, Senator Saland, and Assemblymen Miller, Manning and Kirwin. In fairness to Senator Saland last June he authored a comprehensive bill mandating Clergy to report sex abuse crimes committed by Clergy to authorities. Why wasn't that bill enacted into law? Because Family Planning Advocates, the lobbying arm of Planned Parenthood and the New York Civil Liberties Union teamed up to stymie the bill due to their objections of requiring abortion providers to report Statutory Rape to authorities. Assemblyman Kirwin justifiably asked to review the evidence provided by Life Dynamics. Transcripts and a recording will be submitted to his office. None of the others had the courage to return my phone calls.
Has Planned Parenthood committed and/or concealed Misdemeanors and Felonies? You decide as defined under New York State Penal Law:
110.00 Attempt to commit a crime.
A person is guilty of an attempt to commit a crime when, with intent to commit a crime, he engages in conduct which tends to effect the commission of such crime.
110.10 Attempt to commit a crime; no defense.
If the conduct in which a person engages otherwise constitutes an attempt to commit a crime pursuant to section 110.00 it is no defense to a prosecution for such attempt that the crime charged to have been attempted was, under the attendant circumstances factually or legally impossible of commission, if such crime could have been committed had the attendant circumstances been as such person believed them to be.
115.00 Criminal facilitation in the fourth degree. Class A Misdemeanor.
A person is guilty of Criminal Facilatation in the fourth degree when believing it probable that he is rendering aid:
- to a person who intends to commit a crime, he engages in conduct which provides such person with means or opportunity for the commission thereof and which in fact aids such person to commit a felony; or
- to a person under 16 years of age who intends to engage in conduct which would constitute a crime, he, being over 18 years of age, engages in conduct which provides such person with means or opportunity for the commission thereof and which in fact aids such person to commit a crime.
115.01 Criminal Facilitation in the third degree. Class E Felony.
A person is guilty of criminal facilitation in the third degree, when believing it probable that he is rendering aid to a person under 16 years of age who intends to engage in conduct which provides such person with means or opportunity for the commission thereof and which in fact aids such person to commit a felony.
105.13 Conspiracy in the third degree. Class B Felony.
A person is guilty of conspiracy in the third degree when, with intent the conduct constituting a class B or a class C felony be performed, he, being over 18 years of age agrees with one or more persons under 16 years of age to engage in or cause the performance of such conduct.
130.30 Rape in the second degree. Class D Felony.
A person is guilty of rape in the second degree when:
- being 18 years old or more, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person less than 15 years old.
130.60 Sexual abuse in the second degree. Class A Misedeanor.
A person is guilty of sexual abuse in the second degree when he or she subjects another person to sexual contact and when such other person is:
- Less than 14 years old.
260.10 Endangering the welfare of a child. Class A Misdemeanor.
A person is guilty of endangering the welfare of a child when:
- he knowingly acts in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental or moral welfare of a child less than 17 years old...
411 Social Services Law "The purpose and intent of the statutory scheme is to encourage the prompt reporting of all suspected cases of child abuse.
What guidance is offered by case law? Under Schuyler County Department of Social Services et al v. Schuyler Hospital Inc., The defendant hospital maintained there was no regulatory mandate that a hospital release such medical records without court order, subpoena, or consent that doing so would subject defendant to potential liability for breach of confidentiality and physician priviledge, breach of contract, defamation and invasion of privacy. The Court ruled "Since release of medical records is required by law, defendant is entitled to the immunity afforded under Social Services Law 419; it need not fear exposure to civil liability. Under Kimberly, another case law decision the court ruled "We conclude that a mandated reporter is obligated to report suspected child sexual abuse based upon facts and circumstances within the knowledge of the reporter."
What has Planned Parenthood's legal counsel said on this issue? During their Annual Conference in Phoenix Arizona in 1997:
Roger Evans Senior Director Public Policy Litigation and Law PPFA stated-- "Well the--the--the--it's part of the child abuse reporting law because the way its set up is it defines sexual abuse as a form of child abuse as having sexual relations under the age of whatever.
Dara Klassel-- Yeah. The child abuse reporting laws overide confidentiality."
Roger Evans--"Across the board."
Dara Klassel--"In every state. Yeah"
Has Planned Parenthood become a co-conspirator and active participant in concealing rape? They have if they knowingly provide abortions and/or birth control to young fragile victims only to accept their money and return them to their original abusive environment. Planned Parenthood made over 150 million dollars last year as a "non-profit" organization. Additionally, they were recipient of millions more through Title X funding for educatiion and counseling. Do they have a legitmate claim to that money as well as their non-profit status when their ideolgical zeal and greed leads them to provide abortions and birth control which forever destroys criminal evidence and permanently shatters the emotional stability of young fragile victims? These are questions which can only be definitively answered by a thorough investigation and subsequent oversight by [un]impeachable auditors.
Our political leadership has forgotten the first priority of government is to protect its citizens. A necessary component to a compassionate, moral society is it's willingness to defend those too vulnerable to defend themselves. Sadly, justice is only applied when deemed politically expedient.

Bill,
Please don't publish the email address, It's not that I don't want the personal hate mail but the debate should not occur out of public view. I would rather see if readers can provide a coherent response suitable for public consumption.
I was just going through the site archives and came across an entry titled.
You know, be it the Poughkeepsie Urinal, or any other publication, there is a simple response. Granted we all have a thirst for 'news'. However, if the publication that you have/had depended on for 'objective' reporting, begins to support issues you find morally objectionable, you have only one real response. Remember these rags depend on readers. Without readers advertisers will leave in droves. Without reader/subscribers they have no one to consume their product. Without customers, they are out of business and out of our lives.
The challenge for the offended readers is to take a stand and stick to it. Drop them as if your life depends on it! Sometimes it's not a pleasant thing to do. As a real example, when the Disney Co. went gay, I immediately gave up my vacation club ownership, blocked their channel(and others) on my sat dish, etc.. So now Disney is not acknowledged by my family. Yes I had to explain to my children. The explanation was easy. I asked them what happens as a result of bad behavior? Response; you get punished. Exactly, I said, and the only way we can punish Disney, or any for profit entity, is to withhold our money from them and find a more honorable business to deal with.
If it were only this easy where the government is concerned.

Hi Bill,
A mutual friend of ours, Roy S., told me about your site. It's a lot of work. I had considered doing something similar but comming up with a functional but unique format that would have readers come back as well as maintaining it with content of lasting value was my greatest frustration. Anyway, might I recommend that you also include as links to include the Declaration of Independence:

I am still doing some research on the Articles. I have found some interesting arguments claiming that the Articles may in reality still be in effect and that the Constitution is somehow in addition to the Articles. When you read the closing paragraphs in the Articles, it is declared to be a perpetual document. I have yet to find any resolutions which declare the Articles void and the Constitution as 'the' document of record. I don't know what it will mean in the long run, but it is interesting.
A section of potential interest may be one addressing or better yet challenging the Constitutional relevance of proposed legislation. I am always angered at the arrogance of legislators that vote on Constitutionally defective measures where they say let the courts decide knowing full well that the average citizen cannot afford a legal challenge.
That's enough for now :-)
Cheers to your continued success

Hey Bill:
Your absolutely right about being "ignorant " as you stated in the Poughkeepsie Journal letter to the editor.... Another fine example of fundamentalist rhetoric... Tell you what... why not have all the hospitals or OBGYNs...that treat actual rape cases join in that sting...That 13 year old actor would be thrown out! Who put a 13 year old in the chair.. was she even examined? Phone conversations >>>? give me a break! Using the kid is even sicker than the sting itself!
The "sting "on the so called Planned Parenthood was an undercover Christian propaganda disguised as "pseudo study". It's not their job to police 13 year olds but simply help them get adequate medical care..... Gimme a break.. Why don't men just stay out of woman's health! and KEEP the Church our of our government! Thanks to all the woman's suffrage - for Roe v. Wade and for democracy in this country! Unfortunately sometimes ignorance breeds too.. fine example of that is Bush!

Journal Refuses to Print My Op Ed on PP - URGENT ACTION NEEDED
Dear All,
I spoke to Jim Audlin this am, and he said that it is an "editorial decision" my piece on the PP "sting" will not be published. 2 reasons; "anonymous sources" - meaning the PP workers on the Life Dynamic tapes, and : I use to many "outside sources" - which used to be called DOCUMENTATION. It is clear that PPDU got to them, not to mention that the head honcho at Letters, John Penney, would rather be boiled in oil, than rat on his PP buds. I told Jim that in essence, the Journal is helping in this coverup. I reminded him that NEVER have I sent an op ed without giving documentation - when you don't, they demand it - catch 22 of major proportions.
I have contacted several legislators about this, and plan to go before that body with the information, and the fact that the Pok Journal is stonewalling.

To the Editor: (Sent to the Poughkeepsie Journal)
Re: A recent Poughkeepsie Journal ( Nov. 8) article, "Child Abuse Still Kept Quiet By Too Many" was very informative, and useful. Dr. Diane Cicatello said "I didn't even know Prevent Child Abuse NY existed, and I am a health professional."
When compared to girls who are sexually active with boys near their own age, these girls are more likely to:
- have multiple sex partners;
- engage in dangerous sexual behaviors;
- become pregnant;
- drop out of school;
- become runaways;
- abuse drugs or alcohol;
- become involved in physically abusive relationships;
- end up on welfare;
- be lured into prostitution.
Over the last year, a pro-life organization called Life Dynamics conducted a "sting" operation. LD called over 800 Planned Parenthood facilities, having a woman pose as a 13 year-old girl pregnant by her 22 year old boyfriend. At no time did she suggest that her parents might become abusive due to her sexual activity. The results were shocking. The PP employees overwhelmingly agreed to conceal the crime; many of them actually coaching the girl to lie about, or conceal, the age of her boyfriend. All these calls were recorded. This data has been examined by law enforcement all over the country, and the results confirmed.
An example call: Soldotna Alaska; "I'm going to be 14 next month, and my boyfriend is 22..." - PP employee: "It's kind of illegal for a boy over 21 to have sex with a girl." CALLER: " Why is it illegal? I don't understand." PP: "It's called statutory rape." "Can I bring him in when I have the abortion?" PP: " You know what? I would not bring him in...Forget you told me that."
Okolona, Kentucky: When Life Dynamics undercover caller asked whether the clinic would turn in her overage "boyfriend", she was told, "Well, I'll be honest with you. By law because your are 13 years old, we should. Now we've never reported anybody, OK?"
Virtually every one of the Planned Parenthood clinics who were called were willing, with a wink and a nod, to conceal these crimes. in 90% of the instances where the "girl" raised the possibility that she might not be pregnant, PP agreed to supply her with birth control to help her conceal this illegal relationship. In many instances, the caller was told that the "boyfriend" - the perp - could come to the clinic to pick up the contraceptives.
It receives, according to its own documents, $350 for a first trimester abortion, $475 for 12-13 weeks, $1,250 for abortions between 18 and 20 weeks. They rake in over 68 million dollars a year in abortion "business." The myth is also that PPFA is a "non-profit" organization. The non-profit status was worked out with the IRS and applies only to it's "education" services. And of course, we the taxpayers are forced to be complicit in PP's crimes since they receive millions from Title X. As our local Director of PP of the Hudson Valley said years ago, to the Poughkeepsie Journal, "Our primary business is selling contraceptives." the yearly average income from the sale of the Pill alone is 40 million dollars. Jennifer Shagan, founder of DC National Organization for Women said at a recent meeting that NOW is working closely with PP because, she said, "They have LOTS of money!"
Mid-Hudson STOPP calls for an investigation of Mid-Hudson PP. This is a national pattern, and it is unlikely that our local affiliate does not have the same (unwritten) policy. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, STOPP demands that those who are concerned about child abuse turn their attention in this direction. As Director of STOPP, I also call upon the Dutchess County Legislature to start asking the proper questions of Mid-Hudson Planned Parenthood. To neglect to do so is to risk the health and well being of our children, and to then cooperate, by inaction, in clearly criminal behavior.

To the Editor:
With every wrongful death we are diminished as individuals and as a society. Conversely, every rescued victim bonds us as a people and enhances humanity.
Courage, strength and purity of heart. Those are the qualities of our membership and the very qualities which were tested on Oct.16. We braved severe elements and belligerent motorists to save the next baby from a brutal death. Perhaps our small sacrifice heightened the conscience of a pregnant passerby thus saving one or more lives.
Consider the brevity life. How will each of our lives be defined? have we made a difference, helped others and opposed injustice despite slightly adverse consequences? Or, have we allowed external factors to moderate our convictions reducing us to fair-weather pro-life advocates?
Undoubtedly, as an organization we will face many more challenges. Stopp is committed to aggressively pursue our agenda of preserving unborn life. In the upcoming months Stopp will introduce several bold initiatives at new and existing rally/protest locations. Accept the challenge, join us!

To the Editor:
The unborn have but one clear and consistent voice in the Mid-Hudson Valley and that voice belongs to Helen Westover. It is due to the persecution that she suffered at the hands of Town of Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County officials that enables us to speak out against this ongoing genocide. Helen alone is the one who week in and week out carries signs of an aborted fetus along Rt.9 or Rt.44. She alone is the one who is willing to shout out to the girls entering planned parenthood in Poughkeepsie to have their baby murdered. She alone is pamphleting church parishioners as well as distributing pamphlets at malls and other public places.
Isn't it time that the rest of us face the truth about abortion and what role we are prepared to play in it? Are we so insecure that we can't spend even a few minutes holding one of those signs along a highway or outside of planned parenthood? Are times so tough that we couldn't spare a few dollars to defray the cost she has had to bear?
It is easy proclaim ourselves as pro-life and to find fault with the clergy for their silence. It is easy also to blame the courts and our political leadership. Yet the question persists "what have you done to stop abortion?" I implore you to seriously think about the next baby who will face the gruesome death of having its body torn apart while still within his mother.

To the Editor:
On Wednesday, June 26, the second Face The Truth picket will take place at the Hudson Plaza. Poughkeepsie, at 1:30 PM.
The first, which included the editor of mhvperspective as a demonstrator, targeted the Republican dinner at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center. Armed with pictures of the Abortion Holocaust, local antiabortionists, aligned with Stop Planned Parenthood, made it impossible for pro-abort Republicans, including our governor, to continue in their denial of what their "choice" actually is.
The Face The Truth demonstrators have plans to target several pro-abort GOPers who are running for reelection this year, beginning with Joel Miller, Assembly. Pro-abort to the core, at least he opposed Medicaid funding for the killing of the children of the poor. This he reversed, telling the Director of STOPP that " You have to face the fact of WHO is breeding!!". This eugenic, racist position follows in the tradition of Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, whose motto was "Birth Control - To Create a Race of Thoroughbreds", and "Birth Control - more children from the Fit, less from the Unfit."
Stay tuned for an account of Wednesday's demonstration.
And while we're at it, Editor, why is there no mention of the GOP picket on your website?????

The Poughkeepsie Journal suggests you get on board and I agree. But I totally disagree with their support of the current EPA plan and urge you to get the real scientific facts. You will then learn that the current plan is based on politics and NOT science. I have been studying this controversy for over three months and can assure you the postion the Poughkeepsie Journal wants you to take is not based on the FACTS. Please talk with Rep. Sweeney and don't pay attention to the opinion of a liberal newspaper .I wonder how much time their Editorial Board has taken to study this very vital decision.
I had the opportunity to spend time with Rep. Sue Kelly and showed her the extent of my study and she was very impressed and quite inclined to distrust the current EPA plan . I feel certain that after getting the facts you will put the power of your office against it.

DARRELL SCOTT TESTIMONY
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say,nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert!
These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:
"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.
"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.
"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death.
Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent. "I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy-it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. "I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today:
Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!
"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, soul, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and reek havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs-politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws.
"Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. Political posturing and restrictive legislation are not the answers. The young people of our nation hold the key. There is a spiritual awakening taking place that will not be squelched! We do not need more religion. We do not need more gaudy television evangelists spewing out verbal religious garbage. We do not need more million dollar church buildings built while people with basic needs are being ignored. We do need a change of heart and a humble acknowledgment that this nation was founded on the principle of simple trust in God!
"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes-He did not hesitate to pray in school.
I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America, and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him.
To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA - I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"
Do what the media did not - - let the nation hear this man's speech. Please send this out to everyone you can!

The Honorable Christine Todd Whitman
Administrator
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Ariel Rios Building

The Honorable Christine Todd Whitman:
I am writing to you to express my opinion on the proposed project to dredge the Hudson River and to ask for your intervention to preclude its happening.
My position is as follows:
The acronym EPA stands for Environmental Protection Agency. I find it ironic that these people, who are entrusted as guardians of our country's natural resources, should engender and promote the proposed dredging of the Hudson River.
This project will kill an abundance of life, now thriving in ninety-seven acres of aquatic environment. An entire eco-system: micro-organisms, plants, unsuspecting fish, and their eggs, will be sucked away or gouged out, along with more than two and one-half million cubic yards of our river's bed.
As if that weren't enough, seventeen miles of shoreline will be destroyed in a narrow section of the river. This would end the pastoral beauty and a significant portion of their economy for many years.
We in the mid-Hudson area would receive the now buried sediments that get suspended and /or dissolved by the dredging process. Residents of the city and the town of Poughkeepsie drink the Hudson's water. For us the threat of seriously polluted drinking water is quite probable.
All of this might be tolerable if two conditions existed:
- A preponderance of scientific fact identifying dredging as the only or best way to resolve a very serious health problem.
- If the EPA, based on its experience to date, could demonstrate its ability to restore life lost and prevent, beyond reasonable doubt, the pollution of our water downstream.
However, neither of those conditions exists. In fact, the premise that PCBs are carcinogenic to humans is without scientific verification.
There is much documentation available in support of my comments - a lot of it provided by the EPA in their 4000 page document of November, 2000.
Based on all of the material on the real issues that I have seen and studied, I remain adamantly opposed to the proposed dredging project.
I ask that you, our new Administrator of this agency, cause this proposal not to receive a Record of Decision, thereby ending the threat of so much destruction for so little, if any, gain.
Sincerely and respectfully submitted,

LETTER TO THE EDITOR MARCH 28, 2001, by Gwen Tibbals
Mr. Bill McCabe of the EPA was absolutely right when he said, at a public hearing on March 7, 2001, that dredging is not as scientific as many people would believe. His comment mirrors evidence in the EPA document of November, 2000; Book 4, Appendix A. I draw attention to his honesty with these facts from page 5: St. Lawrence dredging at Massena, NY.
Keep in mind that the Hudson project would be 192 times as large as this one (by volume of sediment removed).
The goal of 1 ppm PCBs was not met, despite dredging and redredging.
Unsuccessful Hot Spot (500+ ppm PCBs before dredging) had to be capped because of hard till under the sediment.
The 'double silt curtain containment system' didn't work because of variations in the river current?s speed and direction.
Backhoe was necessary to remove rocks.
What do other experts say about the probability of contaminants being resuspended into the water column? Poughkeepsie citizens, replace 'water column' with 'drinking water'.
- The National Academy of Sciences? just completed study concluded that ? in some cases, resuspension can be much greater than ... estimates suggest [because] debris, the presence of hardpan, poor control of operations, fine-grained, fluffy sediments, and use of non-optimal dredging equipment can all cause sediment resuspension and residual contamination to be much greater.? (page 201)
- United States Geological Survey and the Water Resources Institute at U of Wisconsin-Madison, each analyzed EPA Fox River projects and found 2% and 10%, respectively, of dredged PCBs were released downstream. That experience suggests we would see between 2000 and 10,000 pounds in our water.
Questions for Bill McCabe and his EPA team when they visit Newburgh on Monday:
- How can you guarantee us that you will not release any contaminants into the water?
- What proof do you offer that you will restore all the life forms killed by the invasive removal of 97 acres of river bottom?
- Given the National Cancer Institute?s statement that they have no evidence that eating Hudson River fish poses a human cancer risk,
WHY would you want to do this?

Dear Governor Pataki:
Your proposed drug reform is laudable. I have been voicing this for a long time. Preventive programs would be good, too, but I am realistic and realize that human nature is weak and falls to temptation, as well as to economic desperation. Rehabilitation and eventual job training are much more beneficial thatn long-term imprisonment for minor culprits. I am also very much in favor of President Bush's proposal to aid religious groups in helping addicts and other societal problems.

Dear Senator Saland:
I have already been puboished in the Poughkeepsie Journal, declaring my strong belief that the Rockefeller Drug laws must be altered. This does not signify that I am a drug user or that I believe drugs to be good, but I believe that imprisonment is less a help than rehabilitation and eventual job training. I am referring to minor drug crimes. Unfortunately, those in the higher echelon are not caught or pay bribes. This is very unfair to the lower income people. Of course, the best solution is to spend money on preventive programs, but we must be realistic and spend time and money to stop this addiction, once it has started.
I am also very much in agreement with President Bush's plan to give money to religious groups carrying out above-mentione work.

Subject: EPA Public Hearing of Jan. 23 on Dredging the Hudson River
As a concerned citizen, who loves the river and its many life forms, I attended the USEPA s public hearing at Marist College. I went to learn and to express my thoughts, pose my questions.
Because of the controversy surrounding the proposed dredging , I expected a lot of spontaneous audience feedback on both sides of the issue, welcomed by the EPA, whose function should be to serve the people. Instead, what occurred was a carefully orchestrated, highly controlled forum geared to promote the EPA s clear intention to dredge our river. This was evident in the structure, tone, and content they delivered.
The primary purpose of this letter is to raise the general public s awareness of and to ask for answers to the important questions the EPA sought so cleverly to suppress. Its secondary purpose is to express my disappointment and disgust at the obvious vindictiveness against General Electric that was allowed to dominate the atmosphere, without any admonishment from the EPA officials.
Regarding the latter, the EPA kept saying this isn t about getting back at GE. Really? Then why, during the presentation, was GE accused of confusing the public with their propaganda and smoke screen ? Why didn t the EPA Superfund Director and Project Manager just communicate to us all their facts and allow us to draw our own conclusions about who is or is not devising a smoke screen?
Also, GE was accused of contradicting itself. Yet, it was Mr. Doug Tomchuk, USEPA Project Manager, who contradicted himself at the podium regarding how long the actual dredging would take. His opening comment was that five years was a fairly ambitious schedule. He concluded his remarks with the five year time frame being a reasonable assumption. His self-contradiction gives credence to GE s analysis of the inherent error in the EPA s time calculation, as shown on their website: hudsonvoice.com. The EPA would not admit that the relentless, ugly dredging would go on for about a decade.
The so-called question and answer period defied statistical probability. All of the people who were in favor of the EPA s proposal were called first. The kudos and accolades were profuse. No dissenting views were heard at all until the very end, when almost everyone had left, including the press. Therefore, it is not possible for any published or broadcast report to be valid. What are the odds against that, unless it was staged?
Regarding content: I found three things most disturbing.
- The EPA considers the requirement to wait for the study of the National Academy of Sciences a delay tactic (what s their hurry? As scientists, shouldn t they embrace those findings?) They were quick to add that they will not be required to comply with it.
-
- Three major questions, which they will not have answers to, until after the decision to dredge has been finalized, are:
- Where are they going to put the 2.65million cubic yards of sludge, once it s in the rail cars? They don t have a place yet.
- What are the societal and economic risks? They did not
address that because the law didn t require it.
- Will they be successful at replacing the habitat they will
kill during dredging? The best prior experience they could
show was Massena; not at all a comparable project.
They said that each of these will be addressed during the design phase.
In other words, the public is expected to allow the dredging with the hope that the EPA can figure out where the removed sediment will go, how the people s lives will be affected, and whether or not life will return after the destruction. I believe that s too much latitude for us to give any group, particularly one that has violated our inherent trust that they would listen openly and be truly responsive.

Gloria,
Last night I went to the public hearing at Marist College on the proposed dredging of the Hudson. If I had any doubts before, I don't now. The EPA proved that it can stage quite an exercise that appears to elicit public opinion, while creating the illusion of having the whole community on their side.
I took copious notes as they spoke. Their omissions were glaring and the anti-GE sentiment in the room was more than obvious. They, of course, basked in it all.
Not one dissenting opinion was heard until so late that most of the standing-room only crowd had left... the press also was gone. I was the next to last called upon to speak at 10:30.
My overall impression is that they are definitely steam rolling right over the opposition and are going to dredge, no matter what. These hearings are a required exercise, which they work to their benefit.
I was approached by GE's Hudson River project manager, as well as others, and we talked about our concerns.
FYI: I have already contacted Christie Whitman's office in New Jersey. They are holding all EPA messages until she wraps up her gubernatorial duties and then ship them to Washington for her attention. (assuming a confirmation soon)
I will be contacting her new office in about a week. She is the one person who can stop them.
Meanwhile, I will be planning one or more public meetings with the help of a group from the Albany area, whose name and stand will help.
I have been encouraged to write my thoughts as a letter to the editor as well. I probably will......................................

Bill,
I called Sue Kelly's office to inquire of her stand on dredging the Hudson. What I got was an associate named Nick, who read me a typical political statement, saying nothing. I thought she was above that, but I guess not.
He said she believes this is a scientific issue, not a political one. Therefore, the scientists have to be allowed to follow through scientifically without interference or undue political pressure. Whatever the EPA decides, she'll accept as scientifically sound. When I made the analogy with abortion, he clearly didn't get it.
As a medical issue, abortion is not left up to doctors to decide; it is and has been most definitely of concern to the people and their politicians. Politicians take a stand on it. His answer??: Well, the supreme court decides that; and that's different because of the supreme court. !!!! Where did she find him, and why is he our link to her??
I asked for her to send me her stated position on the Hudson. We'll see what comes of that.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT SHE IS !!!
