What's New

Revised Links Page

November 17, 2004

I finally got around to doing something I've been wanting to to for quite a while - re-vamp the links page. I hope you find it more useful and not as ugly. And don't hesitate to suggest other sites to add to the page if you think others might find them interesting.

Subscription Services

Mar. 20, 2004

You might have noticed that I have added “sponsors'” links to the bottom of the right-hand column. If you use one of the links and buy something, you will be helping to pay the costs of keeping this site up. I'm not asking you to buy things you don't want or need, but if you're going to be internet shopping anyway, why not start here?

Subscription Services

(Updated Feb. 22, 2004)

If you wish to receive a daily summary of top headlines, click here and include your e-mail address. If you later change your mind, the e-mails you'll receive include simple instructions for removing your e-mail address from the mailing list.

Screw-up Fixed - Home Page Accessible

(November 12, 2003)

On October 17, I started doing some testing for a proposed site upgrade. In the process, I left a file on the site that interfered with normal site access through the home page. Due to technicalities, the error escaped my normal checks, and went unnoticed, except for the loss of traffic.

So I have a serious request for readers. If you see something wrong with the site, send me an e-mail and let me know. Please! If you don't know where to send it, don't dispair. The mail client will send any unrecognized recipient at (i.e., '@') mhvperspective.com to me. I prefer not to spell out the address form exactly because there are web ‘bots’ that sift through web pages looking for e-mail addresses for “spammers.”)

That's the bad news. The good news is that I've made some progress on the upgrade I was working on. Stay tuned.

Site Search Page - New

(October 17, 2003)

Access from left-hand menu.

“Culture War” Page - New

(July 22, 2003)

Check it out!

Coming Soon: “Culture War” Page

(July 16, 2003)

There will soon be a separate page for stories documenting the continuing attacks by the Left on America's culture. Watch for it.

The Leftersons

(July 5, 2003)

Added “The Leftersons” cartoon to home page. Enjoy!

Googled!

(Jan. 3, 2003)

My work has paid off. The site is finally on the google (®) search engine.

Open Forum

(Jan. 2, 2003)

If you'd like to interact with other readers, use the new "Open Forum." Discuss anything you'd like, I just ask that you keep it civil.

Just above the "Post a Message!" form, you'll see a list of threads with a subject and author. You can start a new thread by filling in the "Post a Message!" fields, or you can click on a subject in the thread list and reply to that thread.

You can add html markup in your posts. For example, if you want to have a word display in italics, precede the word with "" and follow it with "." Have fun!

New Resources Page

(Dec. 16, 2002)

There's a new page near the bottom of the menu column. It's titled "Resource Page," and it contains a lot of resources, particularly in the areas of government and language. The links to Political Contacts, the Constitution and the Federalist Papers have been moved to this page, and some new ones added, such as the Articles of Confederation and the Declaration of Independence.

Suggestions for additions to this page will be most welcome, which is why I've added a suggestion form to the bottom of the page.

Links Won't Open in New Window

(Dec. 13, 2002)

This is an overdue change. The initial site design had pages included in "frames", which were not friendly to the "Back" button, i.e., if you opened a page in the same window, the "Back" button would not take you back to where you were. Now that "frames" have been eliminated, this is no longer a necessary, or even desirable feature.

In most browsers, you can still open pages in new windows, e.g., in MS Internet Explorer, right-clicking on a link will open the link in a new window. If you prefer, however, not to have new windows popping up all the time, simply left-click on links to open them in the same window, and the "Back" button should take you back to where you were when you're finished reading the linked story.

If you disagree, please send me an e-mail.

New Look

(Oct. 17, 2002)

The site has a new look. The most obvious change is the menu scroll bar which is gone. The main impetus for the change was to make the site more accessible to search engines which often have difficulty indexing framed sites. Because of the magnitude of changes required, you might experience some problems, although I believe my testing has corrected most of them, except for the files listed below. If you find something that isn't on the list, please send me an e-mail, including the page and a description of the problem.

Known problems (older browsers only):

  • The pull-down selectors on STOPP's home page don't work.
  • Reviews page does not display
  • Political Contacts page does not display
  • Several Archive pages does not display
  • The home page does not always display completely the first try (it shows the menu column only). Try refreshing or reloading the page or clicking "Home" on the menu column if you encounter this problem.

I will update this list as I correct the problems.

Menu Changes

(Oct. 5, 2002)
  1. The left-hand menu has been re-arranged and some of the menu items have been re-worded, mainly in order to shorten the page. Also removed the "Bulletin Board" item temporarily because it doesn't work at present.
  2. The marker preceding each menu item will have a slightly different meaning. If it is red, it means you haven't visited that page within two weeks. If it is a red ">" it means you have visited it within two weeks and it has been updated since your last visit.

An Interesting Link

Check out the new link on the "Editor's Choice" page for the Atheist and Agnostic Pro-Life League

Brave New Schools

(Aug. 6, 2002)
Added a new page which will include stories related to trends in education.

New-To-You Improvement

(Aug. 5, 2002)
The functionality of those little red >s has been improved. Before, they signified that the corresponding page had changed since your last visit to the site. They will now indicate that the page has changed since your last visit to that page! Of course, if you want them to go away, you'll have to visit the page.
