The Art of Leafleting

1. Leafleting:
The leafleting campaign has been ongoing; I mentioned I use Chet Kilgore's cards; one with Emily, another with Malachi, and the other a 7 week aborted kid. I don't think I mentioned what Chet put on the back of the cards: The heading is Do You Care? The text says

Using the D&E method abortionist Robert Prince killed this 21 week old baby (Malachi). In an abortion of this type the baby's arms, legs, head and torso are violently pulled and twisted apart and removed from the mother's womb. The procedure is done slowly enough to avoid injury to mother thus avoiding lawsuits... but it assures a shockingly painful death for the child. The baby's pain eventually ends. His mother's pain can last a lifetime. The job of examining the boy's remains to determine age and abortion type fell to Dr. Patrick McCarty. In his medical career he had seen many gruesome scenes - nevertheless, he wept. This little boy named Malachi died at the North Central Medical Facility in Dallas. He was buried in the Cemetery of the Innocents by prolife individuals who grieve for his loss. Do you care?
When I shop, I leaflet a bit, but most often, go to the malls just to do the leafleting.  Last Friday, got angry at someone; went out and covered 3 large parking lots. Was a bit bored the other day; went out and leafleted. When ever I see a PC bumper sticker, I leaflet that car. The key is to look really busy and rushed; so is everyone else, so you don't draw attention. Yet, as I believe I said before, when people are in their cars, towards the end of the "siege", I simply hand them the cards.

Lately, after I'm finished, I drive around, curious about reactions. The folks read the back of the cards; everyone I checked on Friday was sitting there reading about Malachi. It brought tears of thanksgiving to my eyes, to see that. I think many people have seen Malachi over the years; now they are hearing his story. How cool is that? Anyone want to help out? 845-473-7380.

Since I am everywhere, I go to practically every Mall in three counties. When I have at least a half hour, I leaflet cars. Within the last month, STOPP has put new cards by Chet Kilgore on thousands of cars. Chet has sturdy cards of Malachi, Emily, and even a 7 week aborted baby with explanations of each on the other side. They are marvelous, and really cheap.

I also use the Pro-Choice pamphlets from Life Dynamics. Part of my secret to doing this somewhat unhassled is my ability to make my car anonymous. I have bumper stickers all over it but they are mounted on magnetic backing that I get from Victory Won. They are so useful. One time at Hannaford Supermarket in Highland I didn't bother, and returned to find an entire Burger King Meal smeared over my car. I cleaned it up, took off the stickers, and leafleted again. No one messes with my CAR!

A few cautions: from experience I know that some municipalities have ordinances against putting stuff under windshield wipers... therefore I stick them either in the rubber part of the window next to the glass or in the side-view mirror. The weird thing is, you have the law WITH you after you have hit a car; the stuff then becomes the PROPERTY of the car's OWNER... so if you see someone trying to take them off (an angry store owner, etc.) you can warn them that what they are doing is stealing, and that if they continue you will call the police.

As for where it is legal - large shopping centers are totally safe; the stores all share the lots, and none of them have the authority to stop you, except the lot owner who usually lives somewhere in Louisiana. Plus, it's a good idea to check if other stuff is found on cars in the lot - other ads, etc. BECAUSE... if they allow ANYONE ELSE to leaflet, they have to let you, and then they have a First Amendment  matter on their hands.
